<br>Seattle Proposition 1 - The Families and Education Levy<br>
<a href="http://www.seattle.gov/neighborhoods/education/overview.htm" target="_blank">http://www.seattle.gov/neighborhoods/education/overview.htm</a> <br>
<br>The Families and Education Levy is up for a renewal in this fall's
election. The levy provides funding for City services aimed at helping
children to be safe, healthy, and ready to learn. <br><br>Among other
programs, the levy supports the Fall Middle School League which is run
in partnership between Seattle Public Schools and DiscNW. Over 40 teams
are participating in the league this fall. Funding from the levy helps
to pay for field space, coaching stipends, and administrative support.
This league has been operating for over ten years and was recently
featured in the recent edition of the USA Ultimate magazine. It is an
established and successful youth ultimate program in Seattle, and its
future depends on the passage of the levy.<br>
<br>Please join us in supporting the renewal of the Families and Education Levy this fall.<br><br><br><br>2. FALL/WINTER TOURNAMENTS<br><p>
Registration is now open for DiscNW winter one-day hat tournaments. All
these events will take place on the synthetic turf fields at <a href="http://www.discnw.org/ale/field.html?fieldAreaId=291" target="_blank">Magnuson Park</a> in Seattle.<a href="http://www.discnw.org/events/TurkeyBowl.html" target="_blank"><br>

<p>--Turkey Bowl - <a href="http://www.discnw.org/events/TurkeyBowl.html" target="_blank">http://www.discnw.org/events/TurkeyBowl.html</a>
- A Thanksgiving tradition that gives coed Ultimate players the
opportunity to run off some of those second and third helpings of
stuffing. This is a one-day tourney held on November 26, 2011 at Magnuson Park.<br><br>--Chick Flick - <a href="http://www.discnw.org/events/ChickFlick.html" target="_blank">http://www.discnw.org/events/ChickFlick.html</a> - Renowned for Spirit of the Game, the Chick Flick is for women of all ability levels. This is a one-day tourney held on December 10, 2011 at Magnuson Park.<br>
<br>--Dangle Wrangle - <a href="http://www.discnw.org/events/DangleWrangle.html" target="_blank">http://www.discnw.org/events/DangleWrangle.html</a> - A men's tournament that has a mandatory spike rule! It is a one-day tourney held on December 11, 2011 at Magnuson Park.
</p><br><br>3. SEEKING BOARD MEMBERS<br><br>DiscNW, the Pacific Northwest's premier Ultimate organization, seeks new<br>
members for its Board of Directors. DiscNW acts as a regional resource,<br>
promoting growth in the sport of Ultimate and instilling the spirit of<br>
sportsmanship at all levels of play. The organization annually serves more<br>
than 6,000 youth and adult players in dozens of leagues, tournaments,<br>
camps, and clinics around the Puget Sound.<br>

Joining the Board is an opportunity to be a part of a growing, non-profit<br>
organization. Individuals with new ideas and an interest in helping shape<br>
the future of Ultimate in the region are encouraged to apply.<br>

organizations like DiscNW to collect sales tax on fees for adult events
like leagues and tournaments. Youth and educational events are not
subject to the sales tax. DiscNW began collecting these taxes
effective October 1 in order to comply with the State. Please send any
