Discover all that Magnuson Park has to offer during this park-wide
celebration. Join Mayor Greg Nickels and City Councilmember Tom Rasmussen as
we kick off the festival at 11:30 a.m. at The Mountaineers new building. The
organizations and groups that call Magnuson home are throwing a party and
youre invited to come down and see what's going on in your favorite park!
Bring your family, play sports, tour art studios, learn to sail or paddle a
kayak or scale a 35-foot climbing wall. Be there for the first ball thrown
out on the new sports fields. There will be a number of work parties
throughout the park, including EarthCorps supervising a large group of
volunteers. In Hangar 30 visit 2009 Florabundance, the Arboretums annual
flower and garden sale. 



Come prepared to walk -- rain or shine. Sites will be set up throughout the
park and events will be scheduled throughout the day. If at all possible,
walk, ride your bike or take a bus.

 

More details about the event will be posted on the DiscNW website later this
month.

 

 

Women's Scrimmages in Shoreline

 

*	Dates: April 7, April 14, April 21 
*	Time: 6:30-8pm (arrive at 6pm if you want to warm-up; games will
start promptly at 6:30!) 
*	Place: Kellogg Middle

Shoreline 
*	Who: ALL YOU WOMEN! from anywhere in the greater Seattle area! 
*	Cost: $2 a head a night (to help pay for field costs) 
*	Accessories: Light, dark, cleats, water, your game face. (You know
the drill...) 

 

Also, the vision is that these Tuesday nights are a forum for those who
already have a familiarity with the game and are ready to play with speed,
intensity, physicality, intelligence and desire. We want the college girls
to come out and show off their fitness and speed. We want veterans to
bedazzle with their smarts, skills and field sense. We want former rookies
to impress with their honed talents and new moves... 

 

This is a great opportunity to get to game speed this month in preparation
for Try-Out Season. We want as many women out there as possible, to come and
play their hearts out for an hour and a half.

YCC Coaching Positions

 

Applications are now being accepted for the 2009 Youth Club Championships
(YCC) Seattle Head Coach and Fitness/Conditioning Coach positions.  Job

Spring League Updates

 

Thanks to everyone for being understanding about the field closures and game
reschedules due to wet weather so far this spring.  Last weekend was great,
so let's hope that this trend continues.

 

As a reminder, please obey all Park rules and regulations.  Please do not
bring your dogs to the playfields.

 

Also, I know that they look ready to play on, but please stay off of the new
synthetic fields until we have a reservation.  As I mentioned above, there
is still a little work left to do, but we are getting close.  The fields
could be open for business this summer, and we certainly expect them to be
open in the fall.
