Spring time is here!  It's a record breaking season for teams this year as
we have 47 teams in Spring League and over 100 teams in spring youth
leagues.

Director of Youth Operations

 

DiscNW is seeking a creative and committed individual to serve as the
Director of Youth Operations. This is a full time position that will start
in July, 2008. 

 

The Director of Youth operations will be a self directed person reporting to
the Executive Director to facilitate the success of DiscNW programs. The
Director will focus on youth ultimate and will also involve other projects
involving communication, outreach and administration of both youth and adult
activities. This assignment requires at least a two year commitment with
flexible hours and the opportunity to work from home.

Seattle Parks Strategic Plan

 

Parks and Recreation's draft Strategic Action Plan is available on the at:

The draft plan represents the collaborative efforts of Seattle residents,
Parks and Recreation staff, the Mayor's Office, and partners to create an
action-oriented blueprint that will guide Parks and Recreation over the next
five years. When it is finalized, the plan will help Parks move into the
future as an efficient steward of public assets and a provider of high
quality services that meet many community needs.

 

Public meetings have been scheduled in April to listen to public input on
the draft plan.  Please consider attending a meeting in your neighborhood to
provide your input and continued support for more and better playfields in

Potlatch Bid Window Open

Bids are now being accepted for Potlatch 2008: Leap. 

*	March 19th: Bid window opens 
*	April 23rd: Bid window closes - $950 Team Fee due 
*	May 5th: Bids will be given out 

Bids will be granted on a variety of factors. We'll be looking at Spirit,
History, Experience, Geography, Bid Creativity, and Volunteer Activities for
DiscNW (local teams only) as just some of the team traits during the Bid
selection process. This year, there will be heavy focus on Bid Creativity.
Write us a poem espousing your love of Potlatch. Sing us a song praising the
beauty of the Northwest. Choreograph a modern dance interpreting the life of
a salmon. Get the idea?!?

Summer Camps Registration

 

Seattle Ultimate Camps offer sessions for players ages 10-13 and 14-18
between June 23 and August 22.  Registration is now open.

The Tacoma Ultimate Camp runs from July 29 - August 2. There are sessions

Washington Teams Go to Westerns

 

Congratulations to the 10 local high school teams qualified for the 2008 UPA
High School Western Championships to be held in Independence, MO on May
10-11.

(Seattle, WA), Seattle Academy (Seattle, WA), The Northwest School (Seattle,
WA)

Up Dawg

 

The tournament will be run by the Washington Women's ultimate team.  The
tournament is for high school and middle school players.  

 

Games will be played from 1-7pm at Ingraham High School.  The player fee is
$20 which includes 4 games and a sweet shirt.

Changes to Magnuson Parking

 

The main parking lot closest to the Sports Meadow is going away, and
construction is underway. If you have a game at Magnuson this season please
use the parking lot near the Sand Point fields. There is a walking path near
the off leash area that leads to the playfields. Please leave yourself a few
extra minutes to get from the parking lot to the fields.

Longview Ultimate

 

Once again this year Longview Parks and Rec will have a co-ed adult (over
18) league starting June 11 played on Wednesday nights and play double
headers at 6 and 7pm. The cost is $20 per person and people will be placed
on teams by experience and athletic ability using a self-evaluation form.
The league includes all ability levels so come take part. Games will be
played at Roy Morse Park.
