[Youth-announce] Belated Fall Youth Ultimate Announcements

Hello, Youth Ultimate Enthusiasts,

Sorry to email you twice in short succession.  I have two important
announcements that were missed in last week's message, and updates to four
announcements made last week.

1. Super Class Disc Golf Tournament, September 25
2. SeaTac September After School Ultimate
3. Seattle Ultimate Coaching Series Postponed to September 26
4. Fall High School Hat League Postponed to September 17

1. Super Class Disc Golf Tournament, September 25

This will be the first DiscNW disc golf tournament!  The event is a
fundraiser for the Youth Development Fund, which is used to provide event
fee scholarships for players and teams with financial need, training for new
coaches, and grants for the development of new teams, and to support various
other initiatives for promoting the growth of youth Ultimate (see
http://www.discnw.org/about/youthDevelopmentFund.html).

This is a Super Class competition, which means you can use your good ol'
Discraft UltraStar Ultimate disc (see http://www.pdga.com/super-class).  The
cost is $20 per player.  All participants will play one round of disc golf
at Lakewood Park on Saturday, September 25, 2010.

2. SeaTac September After School Ultimate

City of SeaTac is hosting free after school Ultimate at Valley Ridge Park
for the month of September.  High and middle school players are invited to
participate.  Field 2 is set aside 3-5 PM every school day.  Players of all
skill levels are invited.  Staff will be on hand to provide basic to
advanced instruction.  Valley Ridge Park is just off of I-5 from the S 188th

3. Seattle Ultimate Coaching Series Postponed to September 26

The Seattle Ultimate Coaching Series is the premier opportunity to learn
coaching techniques and strategies from some of Seattle's top coaches (and
some of the best coaches in the world, for that matter).  We have postponed
the Coaching Series by two weeks, so it will now begin on September 26.
Topics include teaching the rules and intricacies of self-officiating,
throwing, receiving the disc and offensive footwork, individual defensive
fundamentals, identifying and employing the ideal strategies for your team,
selecting and implementing appropriate drills, and various specialty topics
from a panel of expert coaches.  This course has been approved for 15 clock
hours by the Seattle Public Schools.  To learn more and to register, visit

4. Fall High School Hat League Postponed to September 17

The first night of the Fall High School Hat league has been canceled
(September 10).  The league will resume on Friday, September 17.  This is a
fun and casual league with an emphasis on learning and teaching Ultimate.

5. Fall Drizzle Tournament Dates: Oct 17 and Oct 23

Middle school will be in Burlington Sunday October 17th.  High School will
be in Burlington Saturday October 23rd.  No one has contacted me about
Elementary School Division but I am still willing to try and make it work.
Co-ed.  Fee will be determined soon.  Right now we have 6 HS teams
interested and 4 MS teams interested.  Please email WWU alumna Alyssa

have any questions.



6. Youth Coaches Needed

Washington Middle School is in need of an assistant coach for the fall.
This is a paid position.  Aviation High School in Des Moines is starting a
new team and is need of a coach.  Islander Middle School on Mercer Island
may be starting a team this spring and will likely need a coach.  Contact
