Hello, Northwest Youth Ultimate Enthusiasts!

I have 6 pieces of news for you today:

1. Youth Development FUNd Run

1. Youth Development FUNd Run

The second annual Youth Development FUNd Run takes place on Saturday, May
26 at Seward Park at 9:30am. The Youth Development Fund supports activities
and initiatives for youth from under-served populations, including free or
inexpensive youth Ultimate events and clinics, financial aid for DiscNW
youth events, introduction of Ultimate to new youth groups, and more.  The
event fee is $35 if registered before noon on Friday, May 25, and $40 on
the day of the race.  Please register at

2. Help DiscNW Win a Responsible Sports Grant

DiscNW is competing for a $2500 grant from the Liberty Mutual Responsible
Sports Program.  To help, please take a 5-minute Responsible Sports quiz
and credit your results to "Northwest Disc Association:"

finish in the top 5 by June 1, we win!  The grant will go toward our Youth
Development Fund, which supports activities and initiatives for youth from
under-served populations, including free or inexpensive youth Ultimate
events and clinics, financial aid for DiscNW youth events, introduction of
Ultimate to new youth groups, and more.


3. Youth Club Championship Tryouts

DiscNW is sending mixed, girls', and open U19 teams to the USA Ultimate
Youth Club Championship (YCC) tournament in Blaine, MN on August 11-12.
The next and final tryout occurs on May 20.  Players do not need to attend
all tryouts to be eligible for the team.  To learn more about individual

4. Spring Jam Tournament

Spring Jam is a single-gender youth team tournament taking place at Fort
Steilacoom in Lakewood, WA, on Saturday, June 2.  There are divisions for
middle and high school girls' and boys' teams.  This tournament is intended
for novice or intermediate single-gender teams, or coed teams who want to
try single-gender play for a day.  Register by May 13 at

5. Spring Reign Wrap-Up

Spring Reign, the world's largest youth Ultimate tournament, wrapped up its
15th year on April 28-29.  DiscNW is extremely grateful to the over 60
volunteers who helped prepare for and run the tournament.  Congratulations

Seattle is bringing a USA Ultimate Level II Coaching Clinic & Certification
to the Seattle area on August 4-5.  Location is still TBD.  Here is more
