Hello, Youth Ultimate Enthusiasts,

Big news since I wrote last month!  DiscNW is hiring for the Youth Director

1. SEATTLE ULTIMATE CAMPS AND HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CAMP

The Seattle Ultimate camps are day camps for players ranging in age from 8
years old through high school.  There are two sessions in June and one in
August.  Register here:

The High School Leadership Camp, August 18-22, is a new addition to
DiscNW's summer camps.  For players ages 16-19, it teaches players skills
such as leading by example, providing peer-to-peer feedback, speaking in
huddles, running drills and more.  Skills will be practiced in real-life
settings, teaching middle school players attending the Seattle Ultimate
Camps.  Each lunchtime includes a convocation with an experienced adult
leader from the Seattle ultimate community.  Register here:

2. YCC SCHOLARSHIP FUND

As I mentioned last month, DiscNW has selected youth players for five teams
which will represent Seattle at the USA Ultimate Youth Club Championships
in August (see teams at http://www.discnw.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5765)

This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for the players and, we think,
helps us to grow the sport locally, since those players come back to spread
their enthusiasm and to coach middle and elementary school teams (and
later, high school teams).  We are especially excited for our team in the
brand new division - U16 Girls!

DiscNW aims to send the players with the strongest skills and leadership
potential, regardless of ability to pay for the trip.  As such, many of the
players need financial aid to get to the tournament.  Demand is
particularly high this year, and we have not yet raised enough to meet all
players' needs.  If you would like to help a player attend the tournament,
please consider a donation to our YCC Scholarship Fund.  You can donate

a check to DiscNW at PO Box 85112, Seattle, WA 98145 (write YCCSF in the
memo line).  If you donate, please email ycc at discnw.org to let us know, so
that we can include it in our calculations of what is available to give to

3. YCC DAY WITH THE SEATTLE RAPTORS - JULY 12

Attend the July 12 Seattle Raptors pro ultimate home game at 5pm at Seattle
Center's Memorial Stadium, and mention "YCC" when you buy your tickets at
the gate.  If you do, $2 of your ticket will benefit the YCC Scholarship
Fund.  The Seattle Raptors already donated $200 this summer and are eager
to donate more.  Thanks to the Seattle Raptors for their sponsorship and
for this fun opportunity to spend time watching pro ultimate with all the
supporters of the DiscNW Youth Club Championship teams!  Learn more about

4. NEW DISCNW STOREFRONT AT FIVE ULTIMATE

 We are very excited to announce that DiscNW has partnered with Five
Ultimate to open an online storefront for Northwest Ultimate gear!  Check

The store will be a great place to shop for DiscNW branded gear, discs, and
more. New products will be added in the weeks and months to come. Five
Ultimate is offering various delivery options, including in-store pickup at
their Belltown office.

5. FALL BID AUCTION - NOVEMBER 8

Save the date!  Registration will open later this summer.  Fall Bid
benefits DiscNW's Youth Development Fund, which finances youth activities
and initiatives designed to promote the sport of Ultimate and support the
participation of under-served populations.  If you would like to volunteer
to help with Fall Bid, or donate an item for auction, please email

This is my last message to you.  Next time, you'll be hearing from DiscNW's
new Youth Director.  It has been such a pleasure interacting with the
people and observing the changes in and development of the Seattle area
youth ultimate scene.  I am excited to see what novel programs,
initiatives, and growth occur under DiscNW's eager, new youth leader.  I
will look back fondly on these last six years.
