[Youth-announce] DiscNW Youth Ultimate News: Summer and Fall

Hello, Youth Ultimate Enthusiasts!

It's been a while!  Looks like the last time I wrote was back in March.  I
guess that goes to show it was a busy and successful spring season at
DiscNW!

I've got 6 pieces of news for you today:
1. Field Day Tournament - This Saturday
2. Seattle Ultimate Camps and High School Leadership Camp
3. Seattle Riot Women and Girls' Clinic - This Sunday
4. DiscNW YCC Teams Selected
5. YCC Day with the Seattle Raptors - June 22
6. Fall Bid Auction - November 8


1. FIELD DAY TOURNAMENT - THIS SATURDAY

With separate divisions for both experienced players and for novice friends
and family, this fun tournament includes not just ultimate but also old
fashioned field games, prizes, and picnic lunch.

Field Day benefits DiscNW's Youth Development Fund and Youth Club
Championship Scholarship Fund.  These funds allow us to promote youth
ultimate to new groups, support the participation of underserved
populations, and provide financial aid for players both playing in local
events and traveling to represent Seattle at the USA Ultimate Youth Club
Championships in August.

2. SEATTLE ULTIMATE CAMPS AND HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CAMP

The Seattle Ultimate camps are day camps for players ranging in age from 8
years old through high school.  There are two sessions in June and one in
August.  Register here:

The High School Leadership Camp, August 18-22, is a new addition to
DiscNW's summer camps.  Designed for players ages 16-19, it teaches players
skills such as leading by example, providing peer-to-peer feedback,
speaking in huddles, running drills and more.  Skills will be practiced in
real-life settings with middle school players attending the Seattle
Ultimate Camps.  Each lunchtime includes a convocation with an experienced
adult leader from the Seattle ultimate community.  Register here:

3. SEATTLE RIOT WOMEN AND GIRLS' CLINIC

Perennial national contender, the Seattle Riot women's club team
(essentially the female pros of the sport), is partnering with DiscNW to
host the 19th annual clinic for girls and women (including moms!) of all
ages and skill levels.  Includes morning, afternoon, or all-day sessions.

4. DISCNW YCC TEAMS SELECTED

DiscNW recently selected youth players for five teams which will represent
Seattle at the USA Ultimate Youth Club Championships in August.

5. YCC DAY WITH THE SEATTLE RAPTORS - JUNE 22

Attend the June 22 Seattle Raptors pro ultimate home game at 1pm at West
Seattle Stadium, and mention "YCC" when you buy your tickets at the gate.
If you do, $3 of your ticket will go to the YCC Scholarship Fund.  Thanks
to the Seattle Raptors for their sponsorship and for this fun opportunity
to spend time watching pro ultimate with all the supporters of the DiscNW

6. FALL BID AUCTION - NOVEMBER 8

Save the date!  Registration will open later this summer.  Fall Bid
benefits DiscNW's Youth Development Fund, which finances youth activities
and initiatives designed to promote the sport of Ultimate and support the
participation of under-served populations.  If you would like to volunteer
to help with Fall Bid, or donate an item for auction, please email
fall.bid at discnw.org


That's all for today!  One last, neat little tidbit, though.  The number of
players trying out for DiscNW summer club league and YCC teams this year
was DOUBLE our previous high!  It is exciting to see the sport growing so
rapidly!
